Originally, Vanilla Fudge was a blue-eyed soul cover band called The Pigeons, formed in New Jersey in 1965 with organist, Mark Stein, bassist, Tim Bogert and drummer, Joey Brennan, and guitarist, vocalist and US Navy veteran, Vince Martell.

16 de jun. de 2020 · The members of Vanilla Fudge came from the thriving Long Island rock scene of the mid 60s. Tim Bogert, Mark Stein and Vince Martell were in a band called The Pigeons playing the same circuit as The Hassles (which included a youthful Billy Joel) and The Vagrants (with Leslie West, later of Mountain).
The band's original line–up—vocalist and organist Mark Stein, bassist and vocalist Tim Bogert, lead guitarist/vocalist Vince Martell, and drummer and vocalist Carmine Appice—recorded five albums during the years 1967–69, before disbanding in 1970.
