The band initially consisted of Richard Butler (vocals), Tim Butler (bass guitar), Duncan Kilburn (saxophone), Paul Wilson (drums), and Roger Morris (guitars). By 1979, this line-up had expanded to a sextet with Vince Ely replacing Wilson on drums and John Ashton joining as a second guitarist.
17 de nov. de 2021 · As of November 2021 Vince Ely is sadly in the first stages of urgent and delayed treatment for throat cancer. As friends and fans, we are absolutely devastated to see this unfold so we now must race against time to support Vince to help restore his health and prolong his life.
21 de sept. de 2020 · Vince Ely did a great job on the drums. Richard and Tim would argue when they came back from the pub, as brothers do, but that tension fuelled the recordings.
4 de ene. de 2024 · And then there was Todd Rundgren, who was keen to do the album. Vince Ely, the Furs drummer, was a big fan. Steve Lillywhite also expressed an interest after hearing President Gas and Forever Now, which were already in the set. The logic shouted at me: “Go with Bowie at all costs. You’ll never get a better chance!”
26 de ago. de 2022 · When the Furs started in London in 1977, Roger Morris played guitar, along with Duncan Kilburn on saxophone and Paul Wilson on drums. They gigged for a couple of years before John Ashton joined as a second guitarist. The 1979 lineup, which remained until 1982, also replaced Wilson with Vince Ely on drums.

Furs drummer Vince Ely had left the band, leaving lead vocalist Richard Butler, bassist Tim Butler and guitarist John Ashton to work as a trio. Producer Keith Forsey handled the majority of the drumming on the album, with session musician Thommy Price playing on two tracks.
