Born in Münster, Germany, in 1963, despite her successes Ute experienced the anti-German backlash of the post-War generation through much of her early career. She was part of Berlin’s arts community during its years as a divided city, and lived the political reality of the situation.

She has been universally praised for her interpretations of Berlin Cabaret Songs, the works of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht and the chansons of Marlene Dietrich, Édith Piaf and many others.
Ute Lemper nació en la ciudad de Münster, Alemania. Realizó estudios de piano, canto y ballet en la Academia de Danza de Colonia; y teatro clásico en el Seminario Max Reinhardt de Viena. Posteriormente, pasó dos años en el Staatstheater de Stuttgart, donde representó obras de Fassbinder y Chéjov, entre otros.
