Kiss always had one ear cocked to the memorable guitar riff and indestructible chorus. The addition of a few backup singers may tilt the balances ever so gently, but—the smooth glitzy groove of “Shandi” aside—much of Unmasked holds up as well as anything from the group’s prime 1973-77 period. “Tomorrow” is pure Paul Stanley firepower.

Ace recalled, "That is the most misunderstood album," (Eddie Trunk) which somehow is one of the biggest understatements to ever come from a man who could just say what he was thinking, without thinking.

Unmasked is the eighth studio album by American hard rock band Kiss, released on May 20, 1980, by Casablanca Records. It was their first not to feature original drummer and founding member Peter Criss. Despite having no involvement in its production, Criss features in the album's artwork and the video for "Shandi", and also receives credit.
