Tygers of Pan Tang are an English heavy metal band who are part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement. They formed in 1978 in Whitley Bay, England, and were active until 1987.The band reformed in 1999 and continue to record and perform. The name is derived from Pan Tang, a fictional archipelago in Michael Moorcock's Elric of Melniboné fantasy series whose wizards keep tigers as pets.

Fueron una de las bandas pioneras del movimiento New Wave of British Heavy Metal, a pesar de no alcanzar el reconocimiento comercial de otras bandas del género como Iron Maiden, Motörhead, Def Leppard o Saxon. 1 .
Mighty Music. Years active: 1978-1984, 1985-1987, 1999-present. Contact: enquiries@tygersofpantang.com. Originally formed in 1978 by Jess Cox, Robb Weir, Rocky, and Brian Dick. First broke up in 1984 after disagreements regarding their contract with MCA Records, but reformed the next year. Split-up once more after a couple of years.
