Twelve Canoes is a website that showcases 12 short, linked audiovisual pieces that paint a portrait of the history, culture and place of the Yolngu people of Ramingining, north-central Arnhem Land. The website features stories, images and sounds of the Yolngu people's lives, culture and traditions, as well as their relationship with the Arafura Swamp and the Macassans.

TWELVE CANOES: Consisting of twelve video pieces that provide a visual portrait of the history, culture and environment of the Yolngu people of the Arafura swamp of north-central Arnhem Land, in the Northern Territory. Once a video piece has been ac-cessed, its companion short videos are accessible through the ‘extras’ link.
The Twelve Canoes site is an immersive digital experience based around twelve visual “poems”, which paint a compelling portrait of the culture, history and homeland of the Yolngu people.
