Tommy Bolin joined Denny & The Triumphs in 1965 on the recommendation of Brad Miller after seeing him play with the Miserlous.They changed the name to A Patch of Blue after seeing the 1965 movie of the same name.Patch of Blue played a combination of pop, R&B, blues & jazz and, despite their young age, they opened for the likes of The Beach Boys, The Animals and Herman's Hermits.
