Te Kura Toi Whakaari o Aotearoa: New Zealand Drama School acknowledges Te Tiriti o Waitangi: The Treaty of Waitangi as the foundation document of the country. To honour the Treaty, the School instills an awareness of the culture of Aotearoa in its diversity and history while initiating an awareness of the school’s responsibility for sharing and furthering Māori culture.
Toi Whakaari ensures students are ready to enter the arts industry upon graduation, equipped with the ability to think critically, collaborate, manage complex processes, and contribute to the arts sector. Welcome to 2024! The first day of the academic year starts 19 February.
In 2005 she moved to New Zealand and set up the Diploma of Costume Construction at Toi Whakaari: New Zealand Drama School which recently celebrated its 15th year of graduating students. Kaarin continues to practice her profession and has been involved in creating costumes for Weta Workshop, Capital E: National Theatre for Children, Amici Trust and The Hobbit trilogy.
