Though Axxis was a veteran band by this point—Time Machine is album number eight—they were not ever really a metal band, working mostly in the uptempo hard rock realm. In retrospect, oddly, Time Machine actually kicks off what we probably should term their “metal period,” which is basically their four-album run on AFM Records from 2004-09.
