Hace 5 días · Thomas Telford (1757 – 1834) Thomas Telford was also from a humble background and began work apprenticed to a stonemason. His work was noticed while working as a stone hewer on the construction of Somerset House in London and after reconditioning Shrewsbury Castle he was appointed Surveyor of Public Works for Shropshire.

3 de may. de 2024 · Built in 1825 by renowned engineer Thomas Telford, the aqueduct carries the Engine Arm Canal over the Birmingham Canal Navigation in Smethwick. Historically, the aqueduct helped to transfer a vital supply of water from Edgbaston Reservoir to ensure the canals around the West Midlands were kept topped up.
