If two bodies at different temperatures are brought together, energy is transferred—i.e., heat flows—from the hotter body to the colder. The effect is usually an increase in the temperature of the colder body.

This Heat were early Post-Punk pioneers with tape loops, cut and paste techniques and Industrial noises. They were formed by ex-Quiet Sun drummer Charles Hayward, multi-instrumentalist Charles Bullen, and tape manipulator Gareth Williams, who also played bass and keyboards.The trio set up their own rehearsal and recording studio in Brixton, dubbed 'Cold Storage', in which their music was recorded.
