The Waterboys sono un gruppo musicale rock scozzese fondato nel 1983 da Mike Scott (Edimburgo, 14 dicembre 1958).Il nome del gruppo proviene da un verso di The Kids, canzone contenuta nell'album Berlin di Lou Reed.Il gruppo ha attraversato vari stili musicali grazie anche al contributo dei vari artisti che hanno collaborato con Mike nei vari anni.
The Waterboys är en skotsk musikgrupp som egentligen bara har en fast medlem; Mike Scott, som tidigare var medlem i bandet Another Pretty Face. Flera andra medlemmar har på olika sätt satt sin musikaliska prägel på olika skivor, bland andra saxofonisten Anthony Thistlethwaite , violinsten Steve Wickham , keyboardisten Karl Wallinger samt organisten Richard Naiff .
