Sinopsis. Walter Garber (Denzel Washington), supervisor del Metro de Nueva York, tiene que afrontar el caos provocado por el secuestro de un vagón por una banda armada, cuyo cabecilla es Ryder (John Travolta). La banda amenaza con ejecutar a los pasajeros si, en el plazo de una hora, no se les paga un alto rescate.
