Having heard briefly of John Fahey way back in the late 60s early 70s I have only recently got re-acquainted with his work and I am completely knocked out by it! There is nothing new on this anthology that his fans won't have heard before but for the newly (re) initiated like myself it is a tonic for the ears. Five star all the way.

The kind of music John Fahey started doesn't have a catchy name yet ("American Primitive Guitar" has been suggested) but as surely as Monroe or Muddy, John Fahey has created a highly original style of American music that has become enormously influential.
