Yet no character inhabiting the novels, not even George Smiley, is as riveting and memorable as David Cornwell. Anything that gets between him and the viewer is not a good thing.

While this is not one of his great masterpieces, The Pigeon Tunnel is decidedly “An Errol Morris Film.” And after talking to him for Opposable Thumbs about the impact Siskel and Ebert had on his career (spoiler alert: they changed his life), it makes me so happy that he’s not only still working, he’s still making the sorts of things he wants to make.
