Formed in the 1970s by Richard Elfman, who needed music for his musical film, Forbidden Zone.Elfman's younger brother, Danny Elfman, who had studied music in France, was asked to play guitar and sing in the band.The other members of the group were Steve Bartek on guitar and Johnny "Vatos" Hernandez on drums. They officially became known as the Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo.
