The Monochrome Set are an English post-punk/new wave band, originally formed in London in January 1978. The most recent line-up consists of Bid, Andy Warren, Athen Ayren and Stephen Gilchrist.

Profile: The Monochrome Set formed in 1978, and were influential in the ‘post-punk’ scene that evolved after the initial scorched earth of punk. The band’s early releases were on the Rough Trade label, but for their debut album (s) they signed for Virgin offshoot Dindisc.
Biography. The Monochrome Set are a highly influential English new wave band, originally formed in London in 1978 by Bid (vocals & guitar), Lester Square (lead guitar), and J D Haney (from The Art Attacks, on drums); a bassist called Charlie was added shortly thereafter.
