Mekons. The Mekons wurden 1977 als Punkband in Leeds, Großbritannien gegründet. Der Name stammt von den außerirdischen Gegenspielern von Dan Dare, dem Helden einer britischen Science-Fiction-Comic-Serie. Seit Mitte der 1980er Jahre wandten sie sich immer mehr Genres wie Rock, Country und Folk zu, die sie auf ihre eigene Weise interpretieren.

The Mekons are a British post-punk band formed in the late 1970’s as an art collective.They are one of the longest-running and most prolific of the first-wave British punk rockbands. The band's style has evolved over time to incorporate aspects of country music, folk music, alternative rock and occasional experiments with dub.
