14 de may. de 2024 · Synopsis. A documentary profile of Pasadena society girl turned adventurer and aviator, Florence Lowe "Pancho" Barnes. In the 1920's and 30's, Barnes was Hollywood's top woman stunt pilot. In the 1940's and 50's, she owned and operated the (in)famous "Happy Bottom Riding Club" - a fly-in resort located near Edwards Air Force Base.

He sometimes would visit her at the Happy Bottom Riding Club, and she would visit him while he was filming a Western on-location near her ranch. For his contributions to the entertainment industry, Renaldo received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1960.

4 de may. de 2024 · A tribute to Pancho’s Happy Bottom Riding Club ranch and Chuck Yeager, the man who would break the sound barrier and set many aerospace records. I don’t know if they still hold that today, the new base commander was not amiable to tourists, but back then it was a fun event — great barbecued tri-tip and all the fixin’s.
15 de may. de 2024 · She actually was a qualified pilot, just not a test pilot. Some might have said that her saloon was a brothel. She was a very tough cookie, and took no lip from young pilots. Her bar, Pancho's Happy Bottom Riding Club, burnt down during the Mercury Program, supposedly from an errant flare. It was the bar where all the test pilots went to drink.
