Review by Brett Wright. ' The Hound of the Baskervilles ' is far from a strong film. Blame is often cast at Paul Morrissey for its deficiencies. But the failure of 'Baskervilles' is mostly due to a mismatch of collaborators. The film feels very much like a director-for-hire gig. It is clearly Peter Cook’s and, even more so, Dudley Moore’s show.

Synopsis. Spoof version of the famous Sherlock Holmes story, starring practically every famous comedy actor available in Britain in 1978. Dudley Moore plays the inept Dr Watson, stumbling across not a huge hound but assorted chihuahuas loose on the moors, while Peter Cook as Sherlock Holmes is so aloof he is actually bored, and ambles off in pursuit of his own interests.
