In order of composition, it was the fourth story written by Joyce, composed early in 1905, shortly after he had abandoned work on a story called “Christmas Eve.”. It was originally entitled “Hallow Eve”.

The Dubliners (/ðə ˈdʌblɪnəz/) était un groupe de folk irlandais, formé en 1962 et dissous après un ultime concert le 30 décembre 2012, parmi les plus longs en activité et parmi les plus populaires. Son nom vient du livre de James Joyce Dubliners. À l'origine, le groupe s'appelle « The Ronnie Drew Group ». Ce nom ne plaisait pas à Ronnie Drew.
