The Clarke/Duke Project II is the second collaborative album by American musicians Stanley Clarke and George Duke. [3] [4] It was released in 1983 through Epic Records . The album peaked at number 146 on the Billboard 200 and at number 44 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart.

John Robinson, Narada, and Billy Cobham played on a few tracks; and Jeffrey Osborne (who I had just produced a top ten single for) and Howard Hewett from Shalimar contributed some vocals. I had begun to use another young engineer named Erik Zobler around this time (who is still my engineer today).

It’s not as funky as the first project, which was already once removed from the funk of George Duke’s solo records (e.g., Follow The Rainbow ). Instead, the album is just as likely to trot out synth rock (“Put It On The Line”) or an R&B ballad (“Try Me Baby”) as funk.
