Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour has been holding onto this buried treasure — an informal acoustic demo of ex-Floyd leader Syd Barrett playfully parodying Dylan’s talking-blues style — for more than three decades. When I listened to this collection for the first time I was a bit, yes, shocked (especially when I heard 'Wouldn't you miss me!'...) In 'Pipers at the Gate of Dawn' with Pink Floyd, there is a near-perfect Syd. This Syd here is sincere, there is something real flowing out of him. I don't get the impression that he is trying to impress.
