Based on material Pink Floyd composed while performing in Europe, Wish You Were Here was recorded over numerous sessions throughout 1975 at EMI Studios in London.

The whole fallout of losing Syd Barrett had to do a number on any of the members, and getting the chance to realise their rock and roll dreams for a second time felt like their dreams may finally be coming true.
