The Asch recordings of Woody Guthrie were memorable and enjoyable listening of a time when many people had the courage to speak out intelligently against injustices in the United States. The songs capture a time of extreme inequality and exploitation in the U.S., a time when organizing moved the powerful to improve the lives of average workers.
