El Taj Mahal es una obra maestra tanto desde el punto de vista arquitectónico como del estético. La gigantesca cúpula se eleva hasta los 59 m de altura. Los cuatro minaretes situados en los ángulos del sepulcro alcanzan una altura de 40 m cada uno y están ligeramente inclinados hacia afuera para evitar que se derrumben sobre el edificio principal en caso de terremoto.
