Les Swell Maps sont un groupe anglais des années 1970, issu de la région de Birmingham, précurseur du post-punk, séparés en 1980. Influencés aussi bien par le Glam rock de T. Rex que par le Krautrock de Can, ils ont créé un paysage sonore original qui sera largement imité par les groupes post-punk.

Richard Scaldwell came into the orbit of the other musicians in the Swell Maps scene in 1977, having been at school with Phones Sportsman. He lived near the Godfreys’ house, so he started jamming with Epic, Phones and Jowe in instrumental projects named The Nozels and The Himalayas… read more.
Swell Maps. English post-punk group, formed in 1972 in Birmingham, England, UK by brothers Kevin Godfrey (aka Epic Soundtracks) and Adrian Godfrey (aka Nikki Sudden ). The lineup was completed with Richard Earl, David Barrington, John Cockrill and Jowe Head. After releasing two albums and four singles they disbanded in 1980.
