Svante Pääbo (Estocolmo, 20 de abril de 1955) [1] es un biólogo sueco-estonio especialista en genética evolutiva humana. Obtuvo su doctorado en la Universidad de Upsala en 1986. Desde 1997 se ha desempeñado como director del Departamento de Genética del Instituto Max Planck de Antropología Evolutiva en Leipzig , Alemania .

Svante Pääbo ForMemRS KmstkNO (Swedish: [ˈsvânːtɛ̂ ˈpʰɛ̌ːbʊ̂]; born 20 April 1955) is a Swedish geneticist and Nobel Laureate who specialises in the field of evolutionary genetics. As one of the founders of paleogenetics, he has worked extensively on the Neanderthal genome.
Svante Pääbo is a Swedish molecular biologist who sequenced the genomes of the Neanderthal and Denisova, and discovered a previously unknown hominin, Denisova.
