Return of the Giant Slits is the second studio album by English punk band the Slits, released in 1981 by CBS Records on LP and cassette. In comparison with its widely acclaimed predecessor, Cut, released in 1979, it showcases a rhythmic, more experimental sound, inspired by afro-pop. The Slits would disband for the first time months after its release in early 1982.

Viviane Katrina Louise Albertine (born 1 December 1954) [1] [2] is an Australian-born British musician, singer, songwriter and writer. She is best known as the guitarist for the punk band the Slits from 1977 until 1982, with whom she recorded two studio albums. Prior to joining the Slits, Albertine was a member of the Flowers of Romance .

The lineup initially featured Up, Palmolive, Suzy Gutsy and Kate Korus, before the latter two were soon replaced by Tessa Pollitt and Albertine, respectively.
The original lineup of the The Slits consisted of Ari Up ( Arianna Forster) on lead vocals, Kate Korus on guitar, Suzy Gutsy on bass and Paloma Romero on drums. Korus and Gutsy were replaced early on by Tessa Pollitt on bass and Viv Albertine on guitar.

Tessa Pollitt soon replaced Suzy on bass.
