The members were Ari Up (Arianna Forster) and Palmolive (Paloma Romero, who later left to join The Raincoats), with Viv Albertine and Tessa Pollitt replacing founding members, Kate Korus and Suzy Gutsy.

  7. Ariane Foster was still only 14 in 1976 when she formed The Slits. Living with her German mother Nora, who ran a kind of rock & roll salon at her West London home, Ari mixed life at Holland Park Comprehensive with hanging out amongst the movers and shakers of the punk scene – Joe Strummer became a mentor. The Slits played their first gig at Harlesden in March 1977.
