Ry Cooder (2009) Ryland Peter „Ry“ Cooder (* 15. März 1947 in Los Angeles) ist ein US-amerikanischer Gitarrist, Sänger, Komponist und Produzent. Seine weltweite Bekanntheit verdankt er unter anderem seinem außergewöhnlichen Spiel als Slide-Gitarrist .
Cooder heeft veel gewerkt als sessiemuzikant, onder meer bij vele film- soundtracks heeft meegewerkt. Cooder verzorgde de filmmuziek voor onder meer Paris, Texas (1984) van Wim Wenders. Ook speelde hij in Captain Beefheart ’s Magic Band. In 2008 verscheen Cooders trilogie: Chavez Ravine, My name is Buddy en I, Flathead.

Along that time he has innovated technically (his 1979 record Bop Till You Drop was the first DDD album – recorded, mixed and mastered digitally!) and musically (his direct influence on the Rolling Stones, Little Feat, and Captain Beefheart is clear and undeniable).
