Totally unexpected, I went back and revisited my old Carlene Carter albums via recent CD releases, when I heard Ms. Carter was going to release a new record after more than a decade of silence. I have always loved her I FELL IN LOVE and LITTLE LOVE LETTERS albums, and despite the good reviews of STRONGER, I didn't think Carlene could possbibly beat those, but I took a chance.
June would frequently take her daughter on Carter Family tours, which meant that Carlene developed a musical interest at an early age. When she was 12, her mother married Johnny Cash. Following the marriage, Carlene and her stepsister, Rosanne Cash, became backup singers in the Carter/Cash touring show.
