Stravinsky's father was an established bass opera singer, and Stravinsky grew up taking piano and music theory lessons. While studying law at the University of Saint Petersburg , he met Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov and studied under him until Rimsky-Korsakov's death in 1908.

Biography. Soulima Stravinsky was born in Lausanne, Switzerland, [1] in 1910, the second son and third child of Igor and Yekaterina Stravinsky. He was the grandson of Fyodor Stravinsky. He studied piano with Isidor Philipp as well as theory and composition with Nadia Boulanger.

Igor married his cousin Catherine Nossenko and had four children. In 1940, after the deaths of his eldest daughter (1938), his wife (1939), and his mother (1939), he married Vera de Bosset.
