On “A House of Hopes and Dreams” Sinfield wrote “ Across the floor lies broken bowls of pride ,” and on “The Night People”, his tale of life on tour, “ Blue neon clock fingers” .

Esoteric's double-disc reissue, however, reveals an album undeniably of its time which—despite certain unavoidable weaknesses—does fare better four decades on, now assessable on its own merits rather than in comparison to Crimson.
