Auf der wiederum von Nick Lowe produzierten LP Stick To Me (1977) überraschten Graham Parker & The Rumour mit poppigeren und großzügigeren Arrangements und ließen stärker Reggae-Elemente in ihre Musik einfließen. 1979 erschien das Album Squeezing Out Sparks, das sich gut verkaufte und von den Kritikern als Parkers bis dahin beste Arbeit gefeiert wurde.
