Drumming is a piece by minimalist composer Steve Reich, dating from 1970–1971. Reich began composition of the work after a short visit to Ghana and observing music and musical ensembles there, especially under the Anlo Ewe master drummer Gideon Alorwoyie.
Steve Reich: Drumming is the debut album of percussionist Colin Currie’s newly launched record label, Colin Currie Records. The Colin Currie Group, longtime specialists in Reich’s music, is joined by members of Synergy Vocals for this recording.
