The Hang Ups are an indie pop rock band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States, formed in 1990 and fronted by vocalist and guitarist Brian Tighe. Other members include Jeff Kearns (bass, vocals), Stephen Ittner (drums), and John Crozier (guitar).
Stephen Ittner was a longtime friend and Hang Ups collaborator who Brian met in art school; and sometime after Maria moved to Minneapolis, Allison, Brian, Maria and Stephen began playing together as the Owls. The next Owls ingredient was John Jerry; brush-wielding drummer of The Ashtray Hearts.

The Go-Karts is songwriter Stephen Ittner’s latest band. Stephen performs with The Hang Ups and is a former member of The Owls and The Starfolk. Brian Tighe, Jeff Kearns and Chadwick Nelson perform with Stephen in The Go-Karts’ live incarnation. “Rock-n-Roll Band,” written and performed by Stephen Ittner, appears on Korda 4 Komp.
About The Hang Ups. The melodic alterna-pop band the Hang Ups came together in 1990, while the band members were attending the Minneapolis College of Art and Design. Consisting of Brian Tighe (vocals, guitar), Jeff Kearns (bass, vocals), Stephen Ittner (drums), and John Crozier (guitar), the band began playing the Minneapolis club/bar circuit.
1 de sept. de 2023 · The Go-Karts is lead by Stephen Ittner, who has also performed and recorded with Korda Artists The Hang Ups, The Starfolk and The Owls. Ittner wrote the chorus for this song 20 years ago, and finally tied it up just recently.
