Songwriter is the debut solo album by Justin Hayward released in February 1977. It was later rereleased on CD in 1987 with two bonus tracks, "Marie" (originally released as a single in 1979) and "Learning the Game" (a previously unreleased track, written by Buddy Holly).

Justin’s career as a songwriter took off immediately with his composition ‘Fly Me High’ for the Moodies that year. That was followed in 1967 with the classics ‘Nights in White Satin’ and ‘Tuesday Afternoon’ from the pioneering album ‘Days of Future Passed’, Hayward’s first with the band.
Known principally as the vocalist, lead guitarist and composer for the Moody Blues, his is an enduring talent that has helped to define the times in which he worked. Over the last forty-five years the band has sold fifty five million albums and received numerous awards.
