Skinny Boy is the debut solo album by Chicago's keyboard player Robert Lamm released in 1974 on Columbia Records. It has the distinction of being the first solo effort by any Chicago band member. The title track, "Skinny Boy," was also used on Chicago VII with horns added and an extended outro.

After recording six overwhelmingly successful albums, in 1974, Lamm released Skinny Boy, the only solo album from a member of Chicago before the 1980s. Lamm seemingly drifted into a period of both personal and professional frustration.
With “Skinny Boy” Lamm is back to his piano roots with easy and uncomplicated songs. Check out Temporary Jones, Lifetime We, and Fireplace and Ivy, as well as a jazz version of A Song For Richard and His Friends.
