Early life. Maximilian Paul Diarmuid Irons was born in the Camden borough of London on 17 October 1985, the son of Irish actress Sinéad Cusack and English actor Jeremy Irons.He has an older brother, Samuel Irons, who is a photographer. Their mother's family was deeply involved with theatre: they are the grandsons of actors Cyril Cusack and Maureen Cusack.

Her first acting roles were at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, before moving to London in 1975 to join the Royal Shakespeare Company. She has won the Critics' Circle and Evening Standard Awards for her performance in Sebastian Barry's Our Lady of Sligo.

Sinéad Cusack was born Jane Moira Cusack on February 18, 1948, in Dalkey, Dublin, Ireland, to Maureen and Cyril James Cusack. After graduating from high school, she went to the ‘University College Dublin’ from where she graduated with a ‘Bachelor of Arts’ degree in 1968.
