Welcome to Simon Bowley- Handmade ceramics. I am a potter living and working at Moss Vale in the Southern highlands of New South Wales, Australia. My work is mainly wheel and hand formed ceramics. I am intrigued by the challenges involved in making objects that are practical as well as aesthetically refined.

As of 2022 Department S comprise Phil Thompson (lead vocals and guitar), Mike Lea (bass and backing vocals) and Simon Bowley (drums and backing vocals.) Their most recent single "Burn Down Tomorrow", the title track of the forthcoming studio album, was released in September 2022.
From 1998-2009, he taught ceramics part time at Goulburn TAFE and, from 1991-2012, at Moss Vale TAFE. In 2013, he took up the position of studio pottery leader at Sturt Pottery in Mittagong. He makes functional stoneware decorated using wax resist, reduced lustre or underglaze pigments and also wood-fires some pieces.
1 de feb. de 2023 · This cemented a new, fresh line up of musicians that included Simon Bowley (nephew of original drummer Steve Nicol) on Drums, Ian ‘Dipster’Dean on Bass, Richard Holgarth *(John Otway/The Gangsters) on Guitar and original front man *Barrie Masters on Vocals, while Chris Taylor would join as second guitarist in 2002.
