Shutter Island, como toda pesadilla, es además incoherente en sus formas. No presenta una narración lineal sino que alterna flashbacks con sueños y el presente, mezclándose todo de forma, eso sí, perfectamente clara, como una pesadilla lúcida (que son las más aterradoras).
