I remember reading Orwell’s essay Shooting an Elephant in middle school and it is ringing loud in my ears reading Player of Games, particularly how entitled the main character is and how it is implied but not directly stated that he looks down on the Azadians. ive heard a lot of the culture series has this civilized vs barbarian theme running through it.
