Shlomo Argov ( Hebrew: שלמה ארגוב ; 14 December 1929 – 23 February 2003) was an Israeli diplomat. He was the Israeli ambassador to the United Kingdom whose attempted assassination led to the 1982 Lebanon War . Early life and education. Argov was born in Jerusalem in 1929, to a family that had lived in Jerusalem for seven generations.
