Born on 1 September 1981, Shingai Shoniwa is a Zimbabwean born musician, vocalist and lead-singer of UK indie rock band Noisettes. The music ensemble is perhaps best known for their hit single ‘Don't Upset The Rhythm’ (Go Baby Go). 15 de oct. de 2020 · Zimbabwean-British singer/bassist Shingai Shoniwa is best known as the vibrant frontwoman of genre-defying band Noisettes; October 2020 sees her release her solo full-length debut. On the heels of her 2019 EP Ancient Futures, new album Too Bold is as dynamic and eclectic as Shingai herself.
Shoniwa’s fashion sense and performative sensibilities landed her the part after director Kameko Tarnez witnessed one of her gigs in London. Hatshepsut is often depicted as having adopted male attributes to assert herself as a leader, but Shoniwa is having none of that. “We can’t compromise what’s on the outside,” she says.
