Sharpe's Mission is an enjoyable entry into this late stage Sharpe let down only by some ropey acting and Bernard Cornwell's repetitive plotting. If Sharpe isn't butting heads with an officious, arrogant and cowardly officer, then he's butting heads with an officer who, having initially appeared to be cut from the same cloth as him, turns out to be a traitor working for the French.
