The name Shagrath is taken from an orc (actually named Shagrat) in J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings", in which he commands over the tower of Cirith Ungol. In 2004, Thoresen told NRK1 that "Shagrat is an orc demon (sic.) from the book "Lord of the Rings".
