By the time Joni Mitchell hit the road for 1979's historic Shadows and Light tour, she'd already transitioned gracefully from the straight-ahead folk sound of Ladies of the Canyon to the pop-flavored Court and Spark.She'd begun experimenting with a more jazz-inspired tone, collaborating with Weather Report bassist Jaco Pastorius on 1976's Hejira.
