Würdigung. Die Sex Pistols gelten als eine der wesentlichen Bands des englischen Punk. Die Band selbst lehnte das Etikett „Punk“ für sich jedoch ab. Einfache Akkorde, gerade Basslinien, schnelles, hartes Schlagzeug, wie sie als Musikform noch bei heutigen Punk-Bands zu finden sind, wurden eher von anderen Bands wie den Ramones oder den Buzzcocks aus Manchester entwickelt.
