Downliners Sect are an English R&B and blues-based rock band, formed in the 1960s beat boom era. Stylistically, they were similar to blues-based bands such as The Yardbirds, The Pretty Things and the Rolling Stones, playing basic R&B on their first album The Sect.

Downliners Sect were a British 1960s group with an R&B style similar to The Yardbirds or Rolling Stones, formed by rhythm guitarist/vocalist Mick O'Donnell with drummer Johnny Sutton when their group the Downliners disbanded after a disastrous French tour.
A classic album which shows Downliners Sect at their best. 14 raunchy rhytm’n’ blues and rock songs, most of it taken from outside sources but also some own compositions like "Sect Appeal" and "Be A Sect Maniac". More than 30 years after its release, the album still sparks with energy and affection for the music.
